Sacred Bride

Sacred Bride: written by Sarah Bourns, produced by Josh Whiteman

Christ and The Church

He loves me
He really loves me

The way He looks at me, that smile on His face
The way He calls my name
The way He takes my hand
The way He just understands

He sees me
He sees my failures
He sees my fears
He sees my flaws
My joys, my tears

And He knows me
He knows everything about me
He knows all of my messes and mess ups

He knows the burdens I’ve carried
The secrets I’ve buried
The lies I’ve believed
The love I’ve given and received

He pursues me
Since the very beginning
He has been running
toward me
Even when I’ve run
away.

Out of my pain
Out of my shame,
I’ve broken His heart
Over and over again.

And still

He remains.

He doesn’t back away
He doesn’t cast blame
Or tell me I shouldn’t be this way

No, he chases me down
Picks me up off the ground
He carries me home
He cleanses my wounds
He covers my scars

And He says,

“She has captured my heart
My beloved, my bride
She has captured my heart
With one glance of her eyes”

He says, He delights in me
He says, He would fight for me
He says
He would die for me

All

Over

Again.

Yes,

He would give His body, His blood
For His Body, His Bride,
The Church, His beloved
For whom He laid down his life:

She is
Broken but beautiful
Imperfect but radiant
Stained but stunning
Scarred

But

Sacred.
