Still Running

We thought it was a sprint.
And it turned out to be a marathon.
And here we are

Still.

Running.

And we didn’t exactly train for this.
And we don’t have the right shoes for this.
And no one told us we would feel like this.
And it was never supposed to be like this.

And we’re exhausted and sad.
And anxious and mad.
And we can’t see the finish line.
And we don’t know what’s on the other side.

And

All we can do is just keep running.
Or walk if we can’t run.
Or crawl if we can’t walk.
But whatever we do
We just can’t stop.

No, we didn’t train for this.
But maybe this IS the training.

And we’ll learn how to endure
by enduring.
And we’ll get better at running
by running.

And we have a Good Guide.
And we can just plod along side by side.
